ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গের হোস্টেলে গলায় ফাঁস দিয়ে আত্মহত্যা করেছেন মানসী মণ্ডল (২৬) নামে ডেন্টাল কলেজের দ্বিতীয় বর্ষের এক ছাত্রী। ওই ছাত্রীর ঘরের ভেতর থেকে একটি সুইসাইড নোট উদ্ধার করেছে পুলিশ। সুইসাইড নোটে লিখা ছিল, জীবনের প্রতি আসক্তি হারিয়ে গিয়েছিল। তার স্বামী দূরে বেঙ্গালুরুতে থাকেন। লকডাউনের কারণে গত ৪ মাস ধরে স্বামীকে কাছে পাচ্ছিলেন না। জীবন অর্থহীন মনে হচ্ছিল।

গতকাল বৃহস্পতিবার দুপুরে ওই লেডিস হোস্টেলের দরজা ভেঙে মানসীর লাশ উদ্ধার করে পুলিশ।

তবে ভারতীয় সংবাদমাধ্যমগুলোর খবরে বলা হয়েছে, মানসিক অবসাদে ভোগার কথা বন্ধু ও রুমমেটদের বহুবারই বলেছেন মানসী।

বন্ধুরা জানায়, বৃহস্পতিবার সকাল সোয়া ৯টার দিকে মানসী বন্ধুদের ফোন করে জানান, তিনি এখনই কলেজে যাচ্ছেন না। কয়েকটা ওষুধ খেয়ে তারপর যাবেন। কিন্তু তারপর তাতে আর কলেজে আসতে দেখা যায়নি।

অনেক খোঁজাখুজির এক পর্যায়ে হোস্টেলের রুমের দরজা খোলার চেষ্টা করছিলেন লেডিস হোস্টেলের সুপার। বিষয়টি তিনি তখনই কলেজ কর্তৃপক্ষকে জানান।

খবর পেয়ে কলেজ কর্তৃপক্ষ তাৎক্ষণিক ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছায় এবং বিষয়টি স্থানীয় পুলিশকে জানানো হয়। পুলিশ এসে অনেক ডাকাডাকির পর দরজা ভেঙে মানসীর ঝুলন্ত মরদেহ উদ্ধার করে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য হাসপাতাল মর্গে পাঠায়।

পুরুলিয়ার বাসিন্দা মানসী নর্থ বেঙ্গল ডেন্টাল কলেজের ছাত্রী ছিলেন। পরে তিনি ম্যাক্সিলোফেসিয়াল সার্জারির জন্য স্নাতকোত্তর কোর্স করতে আর আহমেদ ডেন্টাল কলেজে সুযোগ পান। এখানেই দ্বিতীয় বর্ষে পড়ালেখা করছিলেন তিনি।
