নতুন করে মেরামত করা পুরনো বগি (কোচ) ট্রেনে সংযোজন করে বাড়ি যাচ্ছেন চট্টগ্রামের রেলওয়ের কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীরা। এজন্য বিভিন্ন ট্রেনে ২২টি বগি সংযোজন করা হচ্ছে।

চট্টগ্রামের পাহাড়তলী রেলওয়ে কারখানায় কর্মরত কমরত কর্মচারীরা এসব বগিতে বাড়ি যাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে অগ্রাধিকার পাচ্ছেন। কারণ হিসেবে রেলের কর্মকতারা বলছেন, ঈদে অতিরিক্ত যাত্রী পরিবহনে পুরনো বগি মেরামত করে চলাচল উপযোগী করতে পাহাড়তলী রেলওয়ে কারখানার কর্মচারিরা রাত-দিন কাজ করেছেন। এজন্য তাদের এই সুযোগ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। ফিরতি পথেও এই সুযোগ পাবেন তারা।

রেলওয়েে সংশ্নিষ্ট কর্মকর্তরা জানিয়েছেন, রেলওয়ে কারখানার এক হাজার কর্মচারীসহ চট্টগ্রামে প্রায় দেড় হাজার কর্মচারী ও তাদের পরিবার রয়েছে। ঈদ উপলক্ষে দুই জোড়া বিশেষ ট্রেনসহ আটটি ট্র্রেনে ২২টি বগি সংযোজন করে তারা বাড়ি যাচ্ছেন।

রেলওয়ের পূর্বাঞ্চলের মহাব্যবস্থাপক সৈয়দ ফারুক আহমদ বলেন, চট্টগ্রামের পাহাড়তলী কারখানায় যারা কাজ করেছেন শুধু তারা নতুন করে সংযোজন করা বগিতে করে বাড়ি যাবেন। তাদের প্রত্যেকের ট্রেনে ভ্রমণের পাস রয়েছে।

পাহাড়তলী রেলওয়ে কারখানার বিভাগীয় তত্ত্ববধায় মো. মহিউদ্দিন জানিয়েছেন, কারখানার এক হাজারের মতো কর্মচারী রয়েছে। তারা ছাড়াও চট্টগ্রামে কাজ করা কিছু কর্মচারী ট্রেনে করে বাড়ি যাবেন।
